O que é a síntese FM?
Basicamente, você deve saber o seguinte sobre a síntese FM:
- A síntese FM é um processo de síntese sonora que cria sons artificiais ou modifica sons naturais.
- O "FM" na síntese de FM significa "Modulação de Frequência".
- A síntese da FM foi inventada por John Chowning no início dos anos 70.

É assim que a síntese FM funciona
Em princípio, a síntese FM funciona usando uma fórmula que pode ser facilmente implementada em circuitos analógicos e programação digital para produzir sons complexos. A seguir, explicamos os termos básicos da síntese da FM. - A síntese FM começa basicamente com uma fórmula que consiste em uma frequência portadora e uma frequência de modulação: A cos (2 π fc t + β cos (2 π fm t))
- O espectro é construído simetricamente em torno da frequência portadora ou da frequência portadora fc. Essas frequências simétricas são chamadas de "bandas laterais".
- A frequência de modulação fm fornece a taxa de repetição da modulação de frequência. Valores baixos são um oscilador de baixa frequência (LFO) e o vibrato pode ser ouvido. Em frequências mais altas, a modulação é tão rápida que uma impressão sonora complexa é criada.

- Frequências "negativas" também são refletidas, ou seja, a 0 Hz. -10 Hz se torna 10 Hz, mas fora de fase em 180 °.
- Se você mantiver a proporção de fc para fm e o índice de modulação β constante, a forma de onda será transposta quando você alterar a frequência da portadora. É assim que você pode criar um "instrumento" com um timbre homogêneo.
- Para que fc seja a frequência fundamental do som, fm deve ser pelo menos duas vezes maior que fc, pois é a única maneira que todas as frequências abaixo da portadora se tornam frequências "negativas" e, após a reflexão, são 0 Hz mais altas que o próprio fc.
