- Primeiro abra um novo documento selecionando "Arquivo" na barra de menus e depois "Novo" no submenu. Defina o tamanho o menor possível ao criar seu padrão: quanto maior a sua área de trabalho, mais difícil fica que seu padrão possa se repetir sem problemas.
- No nosso exemplo, criamos uma grade simples. Portanto, abra uma superfície de trabalho de 2x2 pixel. Dica: para que você possa trabalhar com precisão, apesar da pequena área, defina a exibição em pelo menos 800%.
- Crie uma nova camada e oculte a camada de fundo.
- Selecione a »Ferramenta de lápis« na barra de ferramentas esquerda para poder desenhar com precisão. Pinte os pixels inferior esquerdo e superior direito na cor desejada.
- Na última etapa, clique em "Editar" no menu principal e, em seguida, em "Definir padrão". Em seguida, adicione um nome ao seu padrão e confirme com »OK«.

Clique duas vezes em qualquer camada na caixa "Camadas" para acessar o "Estilo da camada". Isso oferece uma infinidade de possibilidades para projetar níveis individuais individualmente.
- Selecione »Sobreposição de padrões« nos diferentes »Estilos« e selecione seu próprio padrão. Confirme com »OK« para aplicar as configurações.
